Children and Schools
How student accounts work, who decides about student data, what we never do with it, and what teachers and schools need to know.

How student accounts work
- A teacher creates accounts for a class. Each student gets a username and a password on a printable login card. There is no e-mail address: the account uses an internal address that receives nothing.
- Students open the worksheets their teacher assigns, hand in their work, see their own results, earn rewards, customise an avatar, look after a pet, and can message their own teacher about the work.
- Students see only their own work. There are no rankings, no public profiles and no way to message other students or anyone outside the class.
What is stored about a student
The name or nickname the teacher typed, the username, the class, the work handed in and its results, avatar, reward and pet choices (including any pet names the student types), and messages with the teacher. Nothing else — no photo, no birth date, no contact details.
Who decides
The teacher or the school decides which students get accounts and what is entered: in data-protection terms they are the controller. YourWorksheets handles the data only on their behalf, as processor, under the Data Processing Terms, which teachers accept when they create their first class.
What we never do with student data
- sell it, or use it for advertising;
- run analytics or optional cookies on students’ pages;
- use it to train AI models;
- let students message each other or strangers.
What teachers should do
- Check that your school allows you to use YourWorksheets with students, and follow its rules and the Ministry of National Education’s rules on external platforms where they apply.
- Tell parents or guardians — the parent letter is ready to print or send.
- Enter a first name or a nickname, nothing more.
- Keep login cards private, and remove students who leave.
- Keep children’s personal details out of worksheets and AI prompts.
Requests from parents
Parents and guardians should contact the teacher or school first, as they decide about the data. They can also use our data request form; we pass the request to the teacher or school and help them answer.
