AI Use and Transparency
How AI Studio writes worksheet drafts, which AI providers it uses and what is sent to them, what is kept, the limits of AI output, and the rules for using it.
Version 1.1 · In force from 13 October 2026 · Last updated 13 October 2026
Who writes the drafts, and what they receive
Google Gemini API — Google LLC, Mountain View, USA
Used for: Writing worksheet drafts in AI Studio from the settings you enter.
Receives: The subject, topic, grade or level, language, question types and difficulty you choose. No account details are sent.
Keeps: Google handles the request under its Gemini API terms. Whether Google may use requests to improve its services depends on the service tier our account uses; until we have confirmed it, assume Google’s terms for unpaid use may apply.
Anthropic (Claude) — Anthropic, PBC, San Francisco, USA
Used for: Writing worksheet drafts on the AI Studio page, and pictures for your picture library, from what you ask for.
Receives: What you ask for — subject, topic, goals, level, languages, question types, a theme and any text you paste, or a few words describing a picture — and an anonymous code in place of your account. Never your name or e-mail.
Keeps: Anthropic deletes what it receives through its API within 30 days, keeps it for up to two years only if it is flagged for breaking Anthropic’s usage policy, and under its commercial terms does not use it to train its models.
Your worksheet is then laid out by our own code. Your name, e-mail address and account details are not sent. Do not type personal information about students or anyone else into a request: AI Studio warns you when something looks like personal information (an e-mail address, phone number, identity number or bank account) and refuses to send the clearest cases.
What we keep
- A record that each generation happened — when, for which account, how much it used and whether it succeeded — so we can apply your monthly allowance. It holds no text of your request. Kept 13 months.
- Your AI Studio history: the requests you wrote and the drafts made from them, so you can reopen them. Kept 90 days, or until you delete them.
- Pictures you generate and save stay in your picture library until you delete them.
Every period is also in the retention summary.
The limits of AI output
- It can be wrong. A draft can contain factual errors, wrong answers, or questions at the wrong level, while looking convincing. Our code checks the structure of the draft, not the truth of every sentence.
- It can be biased or unsuitable for your learners in ways the model does not notice.
- It is not unique to you. Similar settings can produce similar drafts for others; we do not promise originality or copyright.
You decide what reaches your class. Read and correct every draft before you use it. You own the worksheets you make from it, and you are responsible for them.
Rules
Use AI Studio only for teaching materials, in line with our Acceptable Use Policy and the usage policy of the AI provider named above. Do not try to make it produce harmful, hateful, sexual or age-inappropriate content.
Decisions about people
We do not use AI to make decisions about you or your students. AI drafts are suggestions a teacher reviews.
Bad output
If a draft is wrong in a way that matters, or unsafe, tell us through the help center — category “Something is broken” — with the subject and settings you used. If generation failed after it was counted, it is returned to your allowance automatically.
